Jose Aldo verifies the date for his return.
Max Holloway won the interim featherweight belt at UFC 206 in Toronto, Saturday night and as he’s been doing for the past couple of months, he took aim at featherweight champion Jose Aldo. Holloway was looking to get back in the octagon as soon as UFC 208, February 11, in Brooklyn.
MMA Fighting reported that Jose Aldo spoke with Brazilian media Monday and apparently Holloway will get exactly what he’s looking for.
“He’s saying ‘where’s Aldo?’, you have to talk to the UFC,” Aldo said. “About the fight in February, I already knew that, I only didn’t know who I would fight. It was between him and Pettis, whoever won the fight. It’s not something new. This fight will happen on Feb. 11.”
Aldo won the interim title from Frankie Edgar at UFC 200 in July. Just recently the UFC stripped Conor McGregor of the featherweight belt and removed the interim label from Aldo. Following that the promotion made the UFC 206 main event between Anthony Pettis and Max Holloway for an interim belt.
Holloway made it 10 wins in a row picking up a TKO victory over Pettis and in turn putting himself on a collision course with Aldo in February.
