Atomweight champion Angela Lee has an opponent for her first title defence.
ONE Championship has succeeded in pitting together the two most entertaining grapplers in the women’s atomweight division. Champion Angela Lee will do five rounds of battle or less with Jenny Huang at ONE:WARRIOR KINGDOM in March.
Angela Lee burst on to the Asian MMA scene in 2015. At just 19 years old she went from new comer to world champion in under 12 months with one of the most active schedules in the sport. Lee competed six times between May 22, 2015 and May 6, 2016. Next to her becoming the first ever female world champion in ONE history the highlight of her first 12 months was pulling off the rarely seen twister submission over Natalie Gonzalez Hills. Here is what Lee had to say of her opponent Jenny Huang:
“I’ve been watching Jenny and have seen her last few fights. I think that this is going to be a great fight and it will be exciting for the fans to see how our styles match up,” Lee said.
Over the last 18 months Jenny Huang has put together her own highlight reel. The 25-year-old has successfully made her case for a title shot. She sealed the deal for her title shot by finishing April Osenio with a perfectly executed gogoplata. A victory that impressed Lee. Huang had this to say about the match-up:
“Inside the cage I only have one goal, and that’s to win this bout at any cost. She had better be prepared for what I bring to the table, because I will go to battle with my full arsenal,” Huang said.
Stylistically this is going to be a great fight. These are easily the two most entertaining and talented grapplers in the division.
ONE: WARRIOR KINGDOM happens at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on March 11, 2017.
