For the second year in a row Angela Lee finds herself nominated for a World MMA award for the second straight year.
One Championship’s Angela Lee made history in 2016 becoming the first female champion in ONE Championship history. The 20-year-old Lee fights who out of Evolve MMA received her second straight nomination for Female Fighter of the Year.
The ONE Championship atomweight champion finds herself in prestigious company along side two time winner Christiane “Cyborg” Justiano, UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk, bantamweight champion Amada Nunes and Invicta strawweight champion Angela Hill.
Lee had an incredible 2016. She became the first female champion in ONE history, was named Breakout Athlete of the Year by Fox Sports Asia, made MMA Junkie’s top 5 fights of the year for her 5 round war with Mei Yamaguchi and topped it off with her the World MMA Female Fighter of the Year. Not to shabby for a 20-year-old with six professional fights.
Lee is hoping the success carries over into 2017 when she makes her first title defence against Jenny Huang in Bankok, Thailand on March 11.
