The Bellator 170 results are in. It was possibly the biggest card in Bellator history. MMA pioneer Tito Ortiz stepped into the cage for the last time. Chael Sonnen made his debut with Bellator. Two of the promotions most vicious strikers in Paul Daley and Brennan Ward went toe-to-toe. Overall it was a great night of fights.
Tito Ortiz made his last trip into the cage tonight and closed out his career, which lasted 20 years. Things couldn’t have gone better for Ortiz. After weeks of build up and trash talking it took Ortiz just over a minute to close the show. The two went through a series of scrambles and submission attempts before Ortiz wound up in the full mount. Sonnen gave his back, Ortiz locked in a rear naked choke and the rest is history.
Many expected fireworks when Brennan Ward and Paul Daley stepped into the cage and they didn’t disappoint. Daley may have scored the performance of the night with his devastating KO of Ward in the first round. After a few exchanges and takedowns Daley caught Ward with a back elbow that backed him up and followed that up with an absolutely devastating flying knee, which turned his lights out instantly. To make things more interesting Daley called out Bellator new comer Rory MacDonald.
