Bellator has done very well at pursuing and persuading free agents and they’re at it again.
The list of former UFC talent that’s made it’s way over to Bellator is forever growing. Just this year they have brought on Benson Henderson, Matt Mitrione, Rory McDonald and Chael Sonnen. Scott Coker spoke on the Combat and Strength podcast (Reported by FloCombat) and revealed that Bellator currently negotiating with another free agent formerly with the UFC – Lorenz Larkin.
“I think our guys are talking to him, but I think we are a little bit apart on the money and that’s the hold up of why Lorenz hasn’t signed with us yet,” Coker said. “I think it’s just a financial thing at the moment, but I’m going to look into it a bit more and see if I can help negotiations along, but I would love to him here. I think his fighting style would be fantastic in Bellator, and I think he could kick box as well as compete in MMA. I think he has the style to do both.
“I’ve been following him while he has been fighting in the UFC, and I’ve been very impressed. So hopefully we’ll be able to come to a deal, and he’ll come and fight over here at Bellator.”
Larkin has been on somewhat of a run over the past couple years. He is 4-1 in his last five and is coming off two big wins. A decision over Jorge Masvidal and a big first round TKO over Neil Magny, which bumped Larkin to #7 in the welterweight division.
Coker has made big things happen in the past. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Larkin made his way into the Bellator cage at some point in the new year. For now we will have to wait and see how it plays out.
