Emmanuel Sanchez is looking to make Bellator 175 his coming out party.
Sanchez is preparing to walk into the Bellator cage for the ninth time against former bantamweight champ Marcos Galvao. He is just 26 years old and entering the prime of his MMA career, he is fighting on same card as legend Rampage Jackson and against a former champion, it’s the perfect recipe for Sanchez to put his name on the tongues of MMA fans everywhere.
“It’s got to be a coming out party for me. I have to set that tone right away and dictate where the fight goes and break him with my will, my rhythm, my speed, my strength and get the knockout,” Sanchez told The Fight House. “I want to go out there and do amazing things. To get things I’ve never had yet, do things I’ve never done. I want to go out and break records and be legendary.”
It would be easy for Sanchez to get ahead of himself and underestimate Galvao, he’s coming up from bantamweight, Sanchez is the bigger man, but he has been around long enough to know that would be a mistake. That being said he will enjoy an 11 inch reach advantage and wants to take full advantage of it.
“If size mattered the elephant would be the king of the jungle. For me I don’t see it as, ‘oh hey man, I am going to over power this guy, I have size and all that and my strength will be the factor’. I am positive he is strong as well, being a strong grappler,” Sanchez said. “I will have a reach advantage and speed advantage. I think that will be the factor. I will keep the fight where I want to keep it. I am looking to come out and dominate him, expose him and take out a former champion.”
Fighting on the same card as the Rampage and King Mo fight will likely prove to be the biggest stage Sanchez has competed on to date. After going to the judges in his last seven fights and with plenty of eyes on this fight he knows how big it would be to finish Galvao Friday night.
“It is really important…So, I am looking for the submission or the knockdown and get the TKO. No matter what I am looking to put this guy away,” Sanchez said. “I am in no way point fighting, or just holding guys down or against the fence or on top. You always see me look to hurt people and that’s the business we’re in. It is the cold truth…Many people call this a sport, but this is a fight and I am in this to knock this guy out or choke this guy out.
“I see this playing out me just being able to overwhelm him with my speed and my power and he can go down in the first or second round by KO or TKO,” Sanchez added.
We will soon see if Bellator 175 will be everything Sanchez wants it to be. One thing is for sure he definitely has a fight on his hands with Marcos Galvao.
