Full Results and Summary from LFA 6 in San Antonio

LFA 6 went down without a hitch. The hype train that is Mackenzie Dern rolled in to San Antonio. Former Alabama football stand-out Eryk Anders made his LFA debut. Local police officer Richard Odom entered the cage in his home town. All-in-all it was a great night of MMA. Here are the full results:

Ray Rodriguez vs Rivaldo Junior

A solid fight. Rodriguez did well controlling the stand-up exchanges peppering Junior with hard straight shots. He found himself in trouble in the second round when Junior took the fight to the mat and looked to be just seconds away from finishing and arm triangle. Rodriguez proved to be resilient bridging, sweeping Junior and winding up in top position.

Rodriguez admitted it was close though saying, “It was tight, man” in post fight comments.

In the third round Rodriguez was clearly the fresher fighter. He controlled and the striking exchanges in the third round and was the more active fighter. His activity in Rounds 1 and 3 is likely what scored him the split decision victory. Following the fight Rodriguez took his opportunity to call for a shot at the bantamweight title shot.

Eryk Anders vs Jon Kirk

Eryk Anders put a hellacious beating on Jon Kirk. No other way to put it really. The fight didn’t last long and there really isn’t much to talk about. It was all Anders from the opening bell. An assault more than a fight, Anders took the fight to the mat and smashed Kirk with left hands until the ref seen enough and mercifully stopped the fight.

Mackenzie Dern vs Katherine Roy

Mackenzie Dern surprised a lot of people with her improved striking. Taking it to Katherine Roy on her way to a unanimous decision victory. Dern was looking for the finish the entire fifteen minutes. Nearly locking in an armbar in round one, which Roy was skilfully able to defend. Round two was likely her best round as she spent nearly all of it smashing Roy from the mount. The third round was a back and forth striking battle and Dern more than held her own.

Following the fight Dern was challenged by 125 pound LFA champ Andrea “KGB” Lee. With Dern having a lot of trouble making the 115 pound weight limit it is likely she will have to make the jump to 125. Lee vs Dern would easily be the biggest fight LFA could make in the women’s division.

Richard Odom vs William Hoffman

Richard Odom, a police officer in the San Antonio area put on a strong performance finishing Hoffman with some heavy kicks and punches.

The first round consisted of some back and forth grappling more than anything else. Odom was taken down, but wound up on Hoffman’s back. Neither did a whole lot with the positions. The second round is where things go interesting. Both fighters came out banging. It was Odom who landed a powerful kick to the body and from there things went down hill for Hoffman and fast. He managed to get back to his feet after the first kick only to eat a second one which, sent him right back down. Odom sensed the opportunity and moved in for the kill. He moved in landing and began raining down heavy punches forcing the ref to call it day.

Dimitre Ivy vs Gleidson Cutis

Things started off well for Ivy. He landed a big right hand inside the first minute and was seemingly in control of things clinching with Cutis against the cage and landing some powerful strikes. Things changed for the hometown Cutis when he was able to trip Ivy up and take him to the ground. He almost immediately moved to the full mount and even quicker than that locked in a leg lock that popped Ivy’s knee, forcing him to tap.

Anthony Ivy vs Ashton Arthur

Anthony Ivy made quick work of Ashton Arthur in his debut.

Ivy came out quickly scoring a takedown and quickly trying to lock up an armbar. The attempt was defended and led to Ashton gaining top control. Ivy worked his way back up to his feet and took some punches in the transition. That was the peak of Arthur’s performances. Almost immediately Ivy took the fight back to the ground, gained the mount, forced Arthur to give his back and then ended things with a rear-naked choke. It took Ivy all of three minutes to secure his first win under the Legacy banner.
