Titan FC has added four fights including the co-main event to Titan FC 43:Torres vs Nobre.
A new heavyweight champion will be crowned when Volkan Oezdemir collides with Muhammad DeReese. Matt Frevola will put his undefeated record on the line when he takes on Raush Manflo in a lightweight tilt. Flyweight Carlos Hernandez makes his pro debut against Cuban Olympian Gustavo Eddy Galart. Finally another heavyweight bout has been added to the card, Steve Mowry returns to the Titan cage to take on new comer Abel Valdez.
Oezdemir vs DeReese, if your a gambler don’t put your money on any kind of decision. Both fighters combined have only been to the judges four times in 18 fights. Oezdemir is 12-1 and is as hard hitting a heavyweight as you can find, with nine first round TKO’s to his credit. DeReese is still young in his MMA career, but is undefeated in his five fights and has earned the finish in his last three outings with two TKO’s and a one submission to his credit.
Both Frevola and Manflo are riding four fight winning streaks. The undefeated Frevola, has shown early on that he knows how to close the show finishing three of his four fights in the first round. Manflo is equally as impressive with only a single blemish on his record. His game plan is no secret with six of his eight wins coming by KO/TKO. This should be a good back and forth fight.
Carlos Hernandez has a fair amount of amateur experience heading into the cage with a record of 6-4. The former amateur champion has been to decision in all but two of his fights and will be in tough against former Cuban Olympic wrestler Gustavo Eddy Balart. Balart is currently 1-0 in his professional career, but hasn’t been in the cage since 2015. It should be interesting to see Hernandez can handle the Olympic level grappling of Balart and use his in cage experience to his benefit.
Steve Mowry picked up his first pro victory at Titan FC 41 in September beating Marino Eatman by submission in round 3. He will welcome Abel Valdez to the Titan cage and the professional ranks. Valdez has attempted to make his pro debut on two other occasions unsuccessfully, first being denied a pro license and then being forced to withdraw due to injury. It has been nearly two years since Valdez has competed, so it will be interesting to see how that affects his performance.
Titan FC 43: Torres vs Nobre takes place on January 21, at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Florida. If you can’t be in the arena you can watch the event in its entirety on UFC Fight Pass.
