UFC Pushing To Strip Conor McGregor Of 145 Pound Belt

Before UFC 205, Dana White said if Conor won the lightweight belt he would have to relinquish on of his titles and now it looks like the UFC is stripping McGregor of his 145 pound title.

At the UFC 205 press conference Conor McGregor said, “They will need an army to take them belts from me.” According to Ariel Helwani’s Twitter account the UFC appears to be doing just that. Rumour from Helwani is, McGregor’s being stripped of the 145 pound title and the UFC is giving it to Jose Aldo.

Wait, it gets better… apparently Pettis vs Holloway will now be for an interim featherweight title, with the winner meeting Jose Aldo in a unification bout. Here are the tweets Helwani let fly just over an hour ago.

There is a whole lot to soak in right now. Will it happen? How is McGregor going to respond? How is Aldo feeling about getting the title back knowing he didn’t beat McGregor to get it? What is Pettis and Holloway thinking right now? Just crazy! We will see how all this plays out.
